Abstract:
It is predicted that there will be 62 billion IoT devices by the end of 2024. Due to this IoT is making an impact in the majority of fields i.e., agriculture, healthcare, oil and gas industries and smart grid. It appears that many of these IoT devices will be accessed remotely across the globe. Smart meters are IoT devices used for measuring the usage of energy. These meters record different parameters of energy consumption. Smart metering is very much improved by the new and better connectivity innovations in the IoT field. When we talk about energy consumption, smart metering is a method not to only keep a record of energy consumption but also to collect that data for in-depth analysis of energy usage. The IoT field has taken advantage of the use of smart metering to further create a network of interconnected electronic devices producing a gigantic amount of information and data. With the remote access to the data of these meters, the security of this data is a challenge. To avoid any unauthorized access to this data and keep it safe from destruction, this paper proposed Blockchain based approach which will provide a powerful and trustworthy path for implementing a system for the management of distributed data. In this proposed approach, different nodes will possess a copy of all the transactions of the data. Even data that is lost due to some reason can be obtained from the other nodes in the network.
